Shandur polo festival is one of the most awaited festivals in Pakistan.This festival is held from ''7 to 9 July'' every year on Shandur pass in Chitral District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa the polo match is played between the teams of Gilgit Baltistan districts and Chitral districts.

Shandur polo ground is considered to be the highest polo ground in the world at 3,700meter. The polo ground is adjacent to Shandur lake.

Shandur top,situated in Gilgit and called the"Roof of the world'' has the highest polo ground in the world at an elevation of 12,200ft.The version of the polo game played here is considered to be the purist of all,called free style polo.

Since1936, a tradiotional polo festival is being  held  here and people  from all  around  the world  come to watch the matches .

The traditional game of polo was started by Balti prince  Ali Sher Khan.Held anually since 1936,the shandur polo festival is tournament between local teams that invites visitors to view the game along with shows of folk music,dance,and celebration.The tournament is featured in the opening episode of the show The himalayas with Micheal palin.
